Arturo Márquez Chair Premieres | The Aleph
The Arturo Márquez Extraordinary Chair of Musical Composition brings together young composition professionals each year to develop a work for chamber orchestra under the tutelage of Mexican composer Arturo Márquez. These works are presented to the public to showcase the work done in the chair. This concert will feature three works, each exploring violence from different perspectives: bullfighting from the perspective of a bull, the everyday nature of systemic violence, and the story of Christ's crucifixion.
